Description

It would be nice if the metadata heatmap could integrate categories that are shared between data hubs. In this example (screenshot), I have several tracks with metadata from a custom data hub that includes categories like "Assay", "Sample", "Donor", etc. I am also using some tracks (H1) from the Roadmap public data hub. Those tracks also have annotation for "Assay", "Sample", etc. However, the two are mutually exclusive in the metadata heatmap (screenshot). It would be nice to be able to move around tracks by annotations that are shared between tracks/hubs -- for example, to rearrange all H3K4me1 tracks by using the heatmap. As it is, it takes a lot more mouse work to arrange everything at least twice to put tracks in the order you want to display them (important when making screenshots for example!).

Not critical, but would be a really nice feature.

A mechanism for sharing metadata vocabulary among hubs is now available in v31.0.8

Example: a pair of hubs sharing a vocabulary:

http://vizhub.wustl.edu/hubSample/hg19/t/hub1withsharedMD
http://vizhub.wustl.edu/hubSample/hg19/t/hub2withsharedMD

The shared vocabulary is a separate JSON text file addressable by URL:
